Narsis#

The sigil of Narsis

The surface calls us the city of sin. They just don't like that we do it honestly.

A fleshmonger of Narsis

The oldest heart of Urd, a kingdom buried under a mountain at the end of the War of Souls, and a city of sin where the spawn Dekkashraen forsook have lived ever since. Narsis lies beneath Tharsis, and few of its people have ever seen the sun.

The land#

Province of the darkest creatures, underworld of the evil. Narsis is home to all spawn Dekkashraen had forsaken and marks a city of sin and disruption. Narsis is arguably the oldest heart of Urd. It was a kingdom on the surface, on a lake at the south foot of the Jewall range, until the mages of Menes brought the Sister down on it near the end of the War of Souls; its survivors went down into the halls under the buried city, and the lake drained into them as the drowned galleries. Because it is underground it holds little mankind. Because of this little is known of its beginning generations. Narsis lies under nearly the whole province of Tharsis, and the Outer Reach, its busiest way in, lies under the southwest of the province, a long way south of the city of Tharsis.

Where Narsis lies on SediaThe Outer Reach
Narsis lies under the ground, beneath nearly the whole of the province of Tharsis, outlined here. The ring marks the Outer Reach, its busiest way in, under the province's southwest and a long way south of the city of Tharsis.

Who lives there#

Narsis was here before any province above it, and it has never cared what the surface thinks. It stood by a lake under open sky until the mages of Menes brought the Sister down on it, and the lake drained into the halls below, the drowned galleries. Goblins, orcs, trolls, half-orcs, quicklings and daemunai call it home; humans are rare, and those who stay usually have a reason they don’t share. Little is known about Narsis’s early generations, and Narsians like it that way.

Schzo’ersch, the clan with a hand in every surface city’s dirty business, grew up in Narsis’s streets. Mandak’s Legion has made war on that corruption its life’s work, and the surface has started blaming Narsis for things Narsis didn’t do. Narsians find that funny, until the soldiers come down the stairs.

What others say#

Everything that goes wrong on Sedia, someone blames Narsis. Half the time they're right, and it's still not fair.

A half-orc of Tharsis

Its streets are older than anything above them, and they'll still be there when Tharsis is a ruin.

The staged war

A Narsian smuggler swears the skirmish that started the latest war with Tharsis was staged, and that the soldiers who struck first were Tharsians in Narsian gear. He wants to get proof to the surface before the Legion comes down the stairs. Schzo’ersch would rather the war go on, and they already know he’s talking.

Where you grew up#

Roll a d10 for what you grew up around in Narsis, and a d20 on the table of family stations for who you grew up as. The button rolls both.

d10What you grew up around
1You grew up in the streets of Narsis and could pick a pocket before you could walk.
2You ran errands for Schzo'ersch and learned exactly how much you could keep without being missed.
3You were raised in the Outer Reach, on the frontier where the ruins thin out and the dark gets wild.
4You worked the Deepmarch causeway, guiding travelers along the sunken road toward the nexus.
5Your family mined in the Drowned Warrens and lost more than one cousin to the rising water.
6You were sold to a fleshmonger young and bought your own freedom, and you still owe on it.
7You climbed up through the Tharsinian Dungeons as a child and saw the surface sky for the first time.
8You were raised among daemunai and know a thing or two about what Dekkashraen's favor costs.
9You hunted in the Abaddon Deep and know the sound of a locust swarm in the dark.
10You were born on the surface and brought down to Narsis young, and you've never decided which one is home.
