Avarie#
I was a page in Menusia once. I still remember how heavy the shield was.
An avarie is a hero who ascended to serve a god of light and took up that god's power. Nobody starts as one: you earn it, and you keep every score you had.
How they live#
Avaries are celestial: tall, light-boned and winged, and neutral like everything a god makes directly. Menusia is their city.
The 15s on this page are for an avarie your storyteller runs. A hero who ascends keeps their own scores instead.
- Temper
- Even-tempered. In hard times they fight only whoever wronged them.
- Leaving
- When a city turns bad they leave all together, the whole community at once.
- Money
- Save most of what they have left over.
- Crowds
- Like some room around them.
- Tongue
- Celestial, spoken from birth and known perfectly, besides common.
What others say#
They look at you like they already know how you die. The worst part is they're usually kind about it.
Ask one what its name was before. It'll tell you, and then it'll tell you why that person doesn't matter anymore.
Where they live#
How avaries feel about settling in each of Sedia’s provinces. Each links to the province’s page, and Home Province covers what it takes to become a citizen of one.
- At home in
- Menusia
- Will live in
- New Saellem
- Never lives in
- Narsis
Body and blood#
- Era
- The ascended (Earned, not born)
- Lifespan
- Comes of age at 120 and can live to 1430
- Height
- 7 to 9 feet
- Weight
- 300 to 450 pounds
- Genders
- Neutral only
- Favored stats
- Wisdom and intelligence (the game's race menu lists these; they don't change your scores)
Playing an avarie#
You don’t pick a class for an avarie. You bring the one you had, and the name you earned, with your god’s name added in the middle.
A god’s errand
An avarie arrives with orders from its god and needs mortal hands for the part it can’t be seen doing. The pay is a favor from a god, worth more than gold and much harder to collect.
Names#
An ascended hero keeps the name they earned, and their god adds one more between the given name and the family name.
