Halfling#
Second breakfast isn't greed. It's planning.
Halflings stand half as tall as a human. They first turned up during the War of Souls and have been multiplying alongside humans ever since. Nothing about them is weak and nothing is great, except their hands and their luck.
How they live#
Halflings eat more than their size suggests: many meals a day, and they don’t skip any.
People call them mischievous. Halflings call it being well-rounded.
- Temper
- Slow to anger. Hard times rarely turn them on anyone.
- Leaving
- When a city turns bad they leave a family at a time.
- Money
- Save most of what they have left over.
- Crowds
- Like some room around them.
- Tongue
- Halfling, spoken from birth and known perfectly, besides common.
- Children
- Only with other halflings.
What others say#
You'll never meet a halfling who's hungry, and you'll never meet one who isn't about to be.
Don't gamble with them, don't fight them, and don't stand next to one in a storm. The lightning finds you instead.
Where they live#
How halflings feel about settling in each of Sedia’s provinces. Each links to the province’s page, and Home Province covers what it takes to become a citizen of one.
Body and blood#
- Era
- Since the Breaking (0 TB onward)
- Lifespan
- Comes of age at 20 and can live to 250
- Height
- 2 to 3 feet
- Weight
- 35 to 70 pounds
- Genders
- Female (6 in 10) and male (4 in 10); a few are neutral
- Favored stats
- Dexterity and luck (the game's race menu lists these; they don't change your scores)
Playing a halfling#
Any race can take any class. These are the ones halflings start closest to, with the race’s starting score in each of the class’s two stats.
A run of luck
A halfling in town has won every game of chance for a month, and the house wants to know how. So does the halfling, who honestly has no idea.
Names#
Two cozy syllables that end on -o, -a, -ish or -lot. Ferlo Thornhoof, Jota Furthing, Homlot, Yimish Honeyloaf.
