The Rodes#

Each character in Plains of Sedia chooses a rode, or path of quests, skills, trials, or accomplishments that further shape the character both in battle and their appearance and role-play. The effects of a character rode will naturally become stronger the more dedicated to the rode the individual may be, gaining a rank after completing the task allocated to each of the ranks. The character must be level 20 to attain a rode. To take the test for rank 2 the character must be level 40, for rank 3 60, rank 4 80 and rank 5 tests is available at level 100. To achieve each consecutive rank of a rode the character must have completed the test and achieved all ranks before it. There is one master of each rode that characters can retrieve their quests from. The quests pertaining to ones rode are tailored to increase ones aptitude and understanding of each rode, such that if one were to follow the rode of faith, their quests would revolve around increasing faith. A rode of destruction might involve more combat than a rode of faith. The aesthetic effects of the rodes are optional to increase role-play. They are merely standard role-play extensions.

protection#

One who follows this rode values the protection of others, putting their strength and power before anger, saving and protecting the weak. Will cause shield and armor to glow slightly white. The quests are retrievable from Captain Drogan in Tharsis. The rode of protection is viable for tanks mostly as an increase in armor class decreases the damage taken by the player once hit.,

agility#

One who follows the rode favors the prospect of agile combat. The one that moves avoids damage, the one that moves attacks first. Dexterity is opportunity. Player bounces when idle, a ghostly shade when they dodge or parry. The quests are retrievable from Lilian Gom in Tharsis. The rode of agility because it increases dexterity is helpful for Plainsman, Pickpockets, Scouts, and Monks.,

avoidance#

Those who favor avoidance understand the importance of preservation of self. Needn’t one destroy their flesh or armor if they avoid attack? Power is not strength, but in utilizing strengths absence. Character clenches fists when idle. The quests are retrievable from Horas Daquer in Crecia. The rode of avoidance increases the chances the player will dodge an attack. This rode is favored by those damage classes that are very susceptible to incoming attacks, or those who are good at avoiding them but would like to greatly increase those chances. Because it increases avoidance this rode can similarly be acquired by tanks; however, because threat isn’t generated when attacks are avoided tanks might favor just taking less damage in the rode. ,

destruction#

Power over others can easily be accomplished with force. The quests are trievable from Damied Ankari in Tharsis. The rode of destruction increases the players damage in all attacks. This rode is favored by those damaging classes who strictly focus on melee attacks specifically.,

elements#

Threads of magic pervade the world of Urd. Understanding these elemental threads is crucial to understanding ones purpose and affects within it. Quests for the rode may be obtained at the mage spire in Tharsis. This rode is favored by all classes who use magic.,

influence#

True power is in the eye of the beholder. Perception is the key to influence of others. A master of influence is a master of man. Player will emit a slight halo around their body. The quests are retrievable from Gregory Simmons in Crecia. The Rode of Influence can be helpful as it grants beneficial outcomes in conversation and role-play situations. The Rode of Influence is helpful to Priests, Gravediggers, Headhunters, Scouts, Runescribes, and Minstrels.,

purity#

Purity begets strength and preservation of self. Without constitution the body slides into repressive succession. There is the pure self, and the self that fights to exist. Butterflies are attracted to the player, signs of a faint halo above head. The quests are retrievable from Thomas Moar in Jewall. Because constitution is used mostly to increase health, the Rode of the Righteousness increases health. Constitution is also helpful in resisting some poisons and diseases. This rode is also helpful to those who share constitution as their primary or secondary stat. The Rode of Righteousness is helpful to Woodsmen and Pages.,

knowledge#

Knowledge is power. Without understanding one lives blind to the whims of others. Knowledge is the only true indication of power, as with it, all creation and destruction can exist. Time stops in a bubble around character when they cast. The quests are retrievable from Yendor Valkez in New Saellem. Intelligence is also helpful when ascertaining complicated tasks and identifying items. The Rode of Knowledge is helpful to Priests, Gravediggers, Magelings, Hermits, and Elementalists.,

wisdom#

Wisdom is the spark of thought behind knowledge and understanding. One who is wise need not be smart or strong, as he understands what is, and what will be. A wise man lives in the shadow of his happiness, susceptible only to himself. Character walks with fingers entwined. The quests are retrievable from Euphrates Crill in Narsis. The Rode of Wisdom is helpful to Woodsmen, Magelings, Hermits, Runescribes, and Monks.,

power#

Power is life, weakness is death. There are those who live, and those who die. The cardinal rule of power is to have power. Character yells when fighting. The quests are retrievable from Nile Fin in Jewall. The Rode of Power is helpful to Elementalists, Headhunters, Plainsmen, and Pages.,

chance#

The law of existence is random. Anything can be. Nothing is certain. The rules of chance are none. Chance is in everything; only by chance can there be existence. Character flips a coin when idle. The quests are retrievable from Phinius Garland in New Saellem. The Rode of Chance is helpful to Pickpockets and Minstrels.,

faith#

Faith binds ones insecurities and strengthens ones will. Through faith one is strong and goal-driven. Faith opens one’s eyes to their existence and gives their existence meaning. Character prays when idle, and glows a faint light. The quests are retrievable from Prophet Qora in Crecia.,

cognition#

Without thought there is no knowledge, will, wisdom, or even power. The mind drives the body; the body is a shell to the cognitive power. Character walks and stands with hands entangled. The quests are retrievable from Hin Vin just north Mellowdeep Marsh.,

endurance#

When one falls, they must get up. Only when one does not get up is he beaten. Endurance is the only strength that compares the will to survive. Character bounces up and down when idle. The quests are retrievable from Sinthos in Tharsis.
