Power#
Power is life and weakness is death. The first rule of power is to have it.
The rode of raw strength. It raises your strength, and with it every blow you land and every load you carry.
Ranks and tests#
Each rank adds to your strength: +1 STR at rank 1, up to +5 STR at rank 5. The bonus sits on top of your score and isn’t held to the maximum training can reach. Rodes of the self has the rest of its kind.
- Level20Rank 1: Initiate
+1 STR
Haul ore up out of a Jewall mine for a full shift beside Nile's crew.
- Level40Rank 2: Walker
+2 STR
Lift something everyone says takes two people, and carry it where it's needed.
- Level60Rank 3: Keeper
+3 STR
Break a chain. Fin will tell you whose.
- Level80Rank 4: Warden
+4 STR
Win the contest of strength the dwarves of Jewall have held every year for two centuries.
- Level100Rank 5: Exemplar
+5 STR
Bring Fin something from deeper in the mines than any dwarf will go.
The master#
Nile Fin hauls ore at the mine heads of Jewall beside dwarves twice her weight, and outlasts them. She teaches by handing you the next load.
Find Nile Fin at the mine heads of Jewall. Where the masters teach maps all fourteen.
How it shows#
None of this changes a roll. It’s how the people around you can tell what you walk, if you want them to.
- You shout when you fight, and it carries.
- You test the weight of things, a table, a door, a friend, without noticing you’re doing it.
Who walks it#
The classes the rode does the most for. Any class can walk it.
The rode finder ranks every rode for a class.
What others say#
A human out-hauled my whole crew. We put her name on the wall, and then we put her in charge.
Fin's walkers break chains for her. Some of us count on it.
Whose chain
Nile Fin has sent her walkers to break a chain in the Jewall mines without saying whose. The gnome wearing it thinks it’s a rescue, the dwarf who owns him thinks it’s theft, and Fin says it’s a test of strength and nothing more.
